SECOND CONDITIONAL
SECOND CONDITIONAL
To address the structure of the second conditional in English, you must first remember that the conditionals are always divided into clauses or clauses. The sentences of the conditional Type 2 always have two clauses:
Main clause:
The clause will mainly always use the verbouldo or could and the conditional present. Structure: Subject + Would + Word in infinitive without the to
Clause with IF:
The conditional clause is formed with the word IF, subject and verb in the past simple. Structure: IF + Subject + Verbus in Simple Past
Would Or Coud?
Depending on the meaning you want to give the phrase you can use Would or Coud. Would is translated into Spanish as "I would do, and the word coured as" could ".
If I were taller, I could reach the top shelf.
If I were a good baker, I would prepare a cake for you.
Position exchange
The two clauses that form the Second conditional can exchange their position without altering the meaning of the phrase.
If I had time, I would help you.
I would help you if I had the time.
EXAMPLES
If I were multi millionaire, I would quit my job to travel around the world.
If I had enough time, I would visit my friends every week.
I would pick you up at the airport if you flew to the closest to me.
If I were you, I would go and apologize right away.
If the swimming pool weren’t empty, I would jump into it.
If my legs weren’t broken, I would play football with you.
